BostonUserGroups, Inc. has evolved from a single Web page with links to various user group sites into a much larger "umbrella" organization for the user group community in southern New Hampshire, eastern Massachusetts, northern Rhode Island and more.  Boston User Groups, Inc. is a registered as Massachusetts non-profit corporation.

Those that organize Boston User Groups, Inc. do so on a strictly voluntary basis in order to promote their interests in diverse technologies and to facilitate individual professional and entrepreneurial development.  User groups are specifically not under the direct control of any commercial entities but are purely altruistic, non-profit venues for peer-peer support.  Boston User Groups offers support to affiliated groups on an ad-hoc, non-binding basis.

Group demographics include IT decision-influencers and decision-makers.  Members range from developers and administrators to IT managers.  This includes some visits from the executive suite.  A conservative estimate of over 5000 individual, local users refer to this site every month.

Boston User Groups also facilitates certain benefits to the members of it's affiliated groups including third-party educational and certification opportunities.
