Training and Professional Certification Partner

Boston University Corporate Education Center has partnered with Boston User Groups to provide specially discounted vendor-authorized training and professional certification programs.

Why a special Corporate Education program?
A four-year degree program provides an important, broadening and enlightening experience.  But as a practical matter, a considerable amount of subject matter from Computer Science and IT Management programs can become obsolete within four years.  This has driven the popularity of highly focused vendor-authorized training and professional certification programs.

Our local area is blessed with a number of fine training and professional certification organizations.  Rather than dilute our efforts among many providers, we have decided to seriously partner with one organization to maximize our mutual efforts.  Boston University Corporate Education Center has been selected as our official training and certification partner for a number of reasons.

  • BUCEC  is certainly recognized as an excellent professional training organization.  This is not unique as there are many other fine training organizations in our area but BUCEC is certainly one of them.

A few unique attributes:

  • The staff and management of BUCEC clearly "gets it" as far as User Group involvement.
  • BUCEC has proven that they are willing not only to present at user group meetings but they can also create a custom syllabus tailored for specific user group needs.
  • BUCEC uses eight facilities located throughout our local user group coverage area.
  • Boston User Groups, Inc. is considered as a "corporation" by BUCEC.  Affiliated user groups now qualify for meaningful discounts.

Training and professional certification is available for:

These programs can include both boot-camps and extended classroom commitments.  Other programs focus on general IT skills and professional management development.

Boot-camps are a popular option for experienced IT professionals who desire a specific certification.  Boot camps are not intended for career changers or for students new to the IT field.  Note that certain BUCEC boot-camp programs have a three week duration as opposed to the more common two week variety.  It is reasonable to assume that this longer duration program leads to better retention.

Traditional courses of much longer duration are suggested for career changers or students new to IT.

Here's the deal:

1) In order to take advantage of the special pricing and programs, you must identify yourself as a member of a Boston User groups-affiliated user group.  No member ID card is needed.  Just identify yourself as a member of an affiliated user group and BUCEC will validate the group's membership.

2) All financial matters are handled directly with BUCEC and not Boston User Groups, Inc.   Boston User Groups is only the initial facilitator of the program.

3) BUCEC has established two key contact people to handle the special program:
