The
.NET version of Visual Basic is a fully capable Object Oriented
Language. Visual Basic programmers moving to .NET need to
undestand Object Oriented development techniques before being able
to fully take advantage of these OO features.
The
presentation will define basic OO terms such as class, object,
constructor, overloaded method, and overriden method. We'll
cover polymorphism, inheritance, and encapsulation.
Included will be basic design considerations, for example: how to
recognize objects, methods, and properties in a problem statement;
"is-a" relationships; and scoping. A non-trivial
VB.NET coding example will put all these definitions and design
considerations to work.
Our
Speaker:
Mr.
Tattersall has more than 20 years of development experience using a
variety of languages, including VB and C++. He attended Northeastern
University and completed a BSCS at Daniel Webster College in Nashua
NH. Before entering consulting he most recently held positions as
Sr. Software Engineer at BrassRing and Compaq, and Technical Project
Leader at Compaq. Since working with C++ he has had a keen
interest in Object Oriented development and has been putting it to
use with VB.NET for about a year. Mr. Tattersall can be
