Advanced
Object Oriented Development in VB.NET

with Robert Tattersall

Monday, Sept 15th, 2003, 6:45PM
Microsoft, 6th floor, 201 Jones Road., Waltham MA (directions)  Free and open to the public

Bob gives us further grounding in object orientated programming this month. OOP is a big topic. If you missed last month's presentation, you will still benefit from this talk.

The .NET version of Visual Basic is a fully capable Object Oriented Language.  Visual Basic programmers moving to .NET need to undestand Object Oriented development techniques before being able to fully take advantage of these OO features.

This presentation covers more advanced .NET Object Oriented topics using the Visual Basic .NET language.  The topics will include: polymorphism; virtual classes and methods; custom events and exceptions; and interfaces.  Several code samples will put the features described to work.

Our Speaker:

Mr. Tattersall has more than 20 years of development experience using a variety of languages, including VB and C++.  He attended Northeastern University and completed a BSCS at Daniel Webster College in Nashua NH. Before entering consulting he most recently held positions as Sr. Software Engineer at BrassRing and Compaq, and Technical Project Leader at Compaq.  Since working with C++ he has had a keen interest in Object Oriented development and has been putting it to use with VB.NET for about a year.  Mr. Tattersall can be reached at rtatt@comcast.net.
